Raices (Spanish for “roots”) is Ra’s latest work. It takes inspiration from a short period the artist spent in Pisa, Cuzco at the beginning of 2022. The artist started the composing process with instruments easily found in that area, such as kalimba and the Andean panpipe. Months later, the production continued in RA’s studio in Lima integrating the Peruvian cajon, the ukulele and acoustic guitars, accompanied by some electronic elements created with samplers and synthesizers. The sounds in this EP fluctuate between the darkness and the light, partially reflecting what’s visible and what remains hidden.
